Bernardo Perez has extensive community-based leadership experience that includes twelve years on the Moorpark City Council including a term as Moorpark Mayor. He cut his local leadership teeth serving on both the Moorpark Downtown and Peach Hill Neighborhood Councils and on the city's Planning Commission,. Perez knows the District inside and out, because he has been integrally involved during the crucial period working with the District 4 Supervisor when Moorpark was incorporating as a city.
Perez's experience extends across Ventura County and spans greater than forty years as a community and public servant. He has served on numerous local and regional policy and planning agencies and community-based organizations that focus on the needs of District 4 citizens such as education, the economy, water quality, workforce and economic development, agricultural issues, healthcare and social justice issues. Serving as the District 4 County Supervisor would allow Perez to build on extensive local and countywide experience.
Bernardo currently supports the community by serving with the Adventist Health Simi Valley Hospital Foundation, the High Street Arts Center in historic downtown Moorpark, Knights of Columbus Council 9969, Museum of Ventura County and House Farmworkers!
Bernardo also has supported our communities by serving on the Moorpark Complete Count Committee, Census 2020, Workforce Education Coalition, Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, Moorpark Chamber of Commerce, Ventura County Workforce Development Board, United Way of Ventura County, HOME Housing Task Force, Ventura County Living Wage Coalition, Ventura Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), Archdiocese of Los Angeles Justice and Peace Commission, BRAC-95 Task Force and as a classroom volunteer for his children and grandchildren.
Previously, Bernardo worked as a Project Manager with the Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation from 1996 to 2016. Prior to that, he worked for the City of Los Angeles’ Department of Water and Power for three decades as a public employee and proud union member (IBEW Local 18 and Engineers & Architects Association).
Bernardo and his wife, Victoria, have been married for 52 years and are the proud parents of two grown daughters and a son. They love and enjoy their six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren!
